ON RECORD: THE SURVIVAL CODE LIFT THE LID ON NEW SINGLE ‘NOT WORKING’

When The Survival Code aren’t tearing apart venues up and down the country, you can hear them plastered across the airwaves, making themselves unignorable on the rock scene.

Continuing their bid to draw more ears and eyes to their music, the duo have now released no-frills anthem ‘Not Working’ accompanied by a brilliantly irreverent video.

The track combines the pop-punk sensibilities of heavyweights such as New Found Glory and Sum 41 with frontman Gary McGuinness’ classic rock vocal, resulting in a radio-friendly sound that’s sure to attract fans in spades.

We caught up with the London-based duo ahead of the official release. Here’s what the frontman had to say about the meaning behind ‘Not Working’:

I always encourage people to take what they can from a song no matter what it’s original intention, so I’m not sure if there’s a need to dictate the feeling. Having said that, the title isn’t keeping too many secrets in fairness, so I suppose the new single is just about putting your hand up and letting someone know if it’s not working for you. Not endorsing full-scale rebellions or riots here, but more meaningful discourse and articulation of an issue. It feels all too often that we’re all passengers and too polite to say how we really feel or what’s needed and ‘Not Working’ is the full stop in a normal day, that hopefully sets a course of change.”

The Survival Code’s latest single ‘Not Working’ is available to buy from tomorrow.
